After Snowiest May on Record, Mammoth Mountain Extends Ski Season to August

The historic winter of 2019 just refuses to quit as Mammoth Mountain has now recorded its snowiest May on record, pushing the resort to 715 inches on the season and announcing a significant extension to the ski season.

The popular Eastern Sierra resort took to social media to announce it will stay open until August:

What a season at Mammoth Mountain! In February, the resort broke a 30-year-old record of snowfall with 22 feet. Now, with the extra push from these rare mid-May storms, the resort is setting up to have one of its best seasons ever.

Although Mammoth has already broken its May snowfall record, more is on the way with the National Weather Service forecasting up to another foot of snow over Memorial Day Weekend. That’s right, powder days in May!
