All State Parks in the Tahoe Basin Are Closed Due to the Caldor Fire

With the Caldor Fire sending 37,000 Tahoe residents into evacuations and dangerous smoke levels throughout the region, California State Parks is reminding everyone that all state parks in the Tahoe Basin remain closed until further notice.

The entire Tahoe region is being stressed by the impacts of the Caldor Fire, including North Lake, which is now home to thousands of evacuees and plenty of smoke. You should avoid the entire Tahoe Basin until further advised.

Here are all the state parks that remain closed in the Tahoe Basin:

El Dorado County

Nevada County

  • Donner Memorial State Park
    • Due to hazardous air quality associated with the Caldor Fire, this park unit is closed effective Aug. 24, 2021 until further notice.

Placer County

  • Tahoe State Recreation Area
    • Due to hazardous air quality associated with the Caldor Fire, this park unit is closed effective Aug. 24, 2021 until further notice.
