Behind the Fire Line: Take a Drive Through Echo Summit Following Caldor Fire Damage

The Caldor Fire continues to move at a rapid pace through the Sierra and towards South Lake Tahoe. With much of the area evacuated, it’s giving firefighters time to assess the recent damage from the fire in the summit just above Lake Tahoe.

Independent fire reporter Craig Philpott was given access the the burned areas of Echo Summit and took video of his drive around with CalFire. In the video, you can see burned trees and structures, with some cabins surviving the flames.

Video is driving today 8.30.21 after firestorm event on Caldor Fire that damaged homes and property near Hwy 50 above Twin Bridges, CA. Drive is East on Hwy 50 from Sierra at Tahoe junction to Sierra Pines and then looping around and back to Hwy 50 on Mnt Ralston Rd. #caldorfire
