The massive storm that was supposed to bring feet of snow to the Northern California mountains is delivering on its forecast. Over the weekend, snow dumped on the high elevation areas of NorCal, especially the Sierra Nevada. On Sunday, a rare Blizzard Warning was issued by the National Weather Service, only the 6th Blizzard Warning issued in NorCal since 2008.

Already up to 5 feet of snow has fallen on areas of NorCal, and now forecasts are calling for 4 more feet of snow above 7,000 feet through Tuesday morning, including winds of up to 100 mph on the top of ridges.

This morning, as snow flew sideways and buried everything in sight, many Tahoe ski resorts were forced to close lifts for the day:

If you were planning to go skiing today, you’ll probably just have to wait until tomorrow. Travel in high elevation areas is strongly discouraged, with significant chain controls expected and possibly even road closures.
