Maybruary?! Another Storm with Heavy Rain and Snow Moving into NorCal Today

After the historic winter of 2019 that singlehandedly brought Northern California out of a 7-year drought, some were hoping for a reprieve from the constant rain and snowfall that we saw throughout January, February and March.

But Mother Nature has a different idea. It’s called Maybruary and it’s continuing with a brand-new storm set to slam NorCal on Saturday.

Similar to the recent 2-day storm this week that saw 5 inches of rain in the valley and over a foot of snow in the Sierra Nevada, this new storm will bring significant precipitation over a 48-hour span and could bring over a foot of snow above 6,000 feet.

Another Winter Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service, which will last from 2 pm Saturday through 5 am on Monday.

The large storm will hit Saturday afternoon and will cover the entirety of NorCal by sundown:

Chain controls are expected in the Sierra Nevada throughout the week, so if planning on travel to or from the Tahoe area be prepared!

This storm is similar to huge storm that just hit NorCal this week, which brought historic rainfall numbers. For example, Sacramento had its fifth most rainfall during a 2-day period in May in recorded history.

The rainfall totals were staggering as one NorCal community saw over 6 inches of rain in 48 hours, while many other saw over 5 inches:

And, of course, a foot and a half of snow fell on the Sierra Nevada, giving the few Tahoe ski resorts that remain open a rare powder day. It also pushed Squaw Valley over the 700 inch mark for the season.

Stay dry out there NorCal!
