Mt. Shasta Ski Park Closes Summer Operations Due to Fire Risk, Staffing Challenges

Mt. Shasta Ski Park’s summer operations were short lived, with increased fire risk and staffing challenges forcing the mountain to end all activities until winter. Visitors will no longer be able to enjoy the mountain biking park, disc golf course and

“Between staffing challenges and extreme fire danger, our best move is to close for the summer,” wrote ski park officials on social media. “We will be reaching out to season pass holders. Please be patient with us as we return phone calls”

The mountain has invested heavily in its summer activities over the past few years, building a comprehensive mountain biking course, adding a disc golf course and building a mid-mountain snack shack for hungry and thirsty adventurers. When the Lava Fire erupted near the mountain, heavy smoke and wildfire concern put a brief hold on operations. Now, with the risk of wildfire and issues staffing the weekend-only park, Mt. Shasta officials will begin concentrating on the winter season.
