Winter is Coming: Here are the Opening Dates for All NorCal Ski Resorts

The winter is approaching in the mountains of Northern California, and ski resorts are prepping by hiring lift attendants, cleaning any obstacles that may have arose during the summer and, of course, making snow. Although the recent months have seen dry weather, snowmaking has allowed some mountains to open early (Mammoth Mountain and Nevada’s Mt. Rose).

The upcoming weather forecast throughout NorCal remains mostly dry, but that won’t stop some ski resorts from opening their lifts and hoping to see some snowy days in the near future. Here are all the opening days for ski resorts in NorCal:

As ski season approaches we're reminiscing on the best moments from the 2018/2019 season. Here are some memorable days, in no particular order. 📷1:Dec 26, 2018 – Our holiday wishes came true with a fresh 12 inches of snow falling on Christmas Day. The skiing and riding that day was only surpassed by the following day when the sun came out and the groomers were pristine. This was truly a memorable day for cruising Northstar California. 📷2: January 17, 2019 – We were in the middle of a string of large January storms when the 17th hit and brought with it a collassal storm, dropping 26 inches of snow in 24 hours, bringing the 48 hours snowfall to 49 inches. That amount of snow slightly only prepared skiers and riders from what was about to happen: Februburied. 📷3: Feb 28, 2019 – When February ended, so did the snowiest month in Northstar's history. After 291 inches in 28 days, the end of the month brough relief, a smile, and a break in the clouds. Countless powder days had been had. Countless memories had been made. And on this day, we extended our season. We won't soon forget February 2019. Tag us in a photo of your favorite moments and we’ll share it next week.

As you can see, most resorts plan to open in the month of November. But will the dry weather delay their openings? Only time will tell.
