In a significant achievement, the Redwood Sky Walk at Sequoia Park Zoo has been hailed as the best aerial adventure park in the United States, according to the 2023 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest.
USA Today’s 10Best program offers its readers valuable recommendations about top attractions, activities, and dining options across the country. Every year, the program’s editors and contributing experts shortlist 20 nominees per category, and the readership votes to select the top 10. This year, the coveted ‘best aerial adventure park’ title was clinched by the Redwood Sky Walk at Sequoia Park Zoo.
Located at the Sequoia Park Zoo, the Redwood Sky Walk provides an educational and captivating self-guided interpretive experience. Visitors get an unprecedented opportunity to learn about the intricate ecology of the California Coastal Redwoods, the world’s tallest trees, from a breathtaking new vantage point.
Touted as the longest sky walk in the western United States, the Redwood Sky Walk extends just under a quarter-mile to its end and back, reaching staggering heights of up to 100 feet above the forest floor. The sky walk, which is ADA accessible, ascends approximately one-third of the way up the ancient and second-growth trees in Eureka’s historic Sequoia Park. Admission to the Redwood Sky Walk is included with the entrance fee to the Sequoia Park Zoo, with no additional reservations required.
Since its inauguration in June 2021, the Redwood Sky Walk has received widespread acclaim from global media outlets for offering a unique, awe-inspiring experience, and for the city of Eureka’s innovative spirit.
Eureka City Manager Miles Slattery expressed his excitement about the recognition. “We are thrilled that The Redwood Sky Walk has been recognized as the Best Aerial Adventure Park this year,” he said. “The Sequoia Park Zoo has long held a special place in our community, and locals and visitors alike have celebrated the recent addition of The Redwood Sky Walk and all of the positive attention it has brought our community.”
The recent accolade comes on the heels of other exciting news for the Sequoia Park Zoo, which recently welcomed two bears for their new bear and coyote exhibit. The exhibit will be visible from the sky walk’s launch ramp, further enhancing the immersive experience for visitors.
