85-Year-Old Chuck Norris Just Hiked Lassen Peak

Action star and martial arts legend Chuck Norris is proving age is just a number. The 85-year-old shared on Instagram this week that he recently hiked Lassen Peak, one of Northern California’s most iconic trails.

“What a day! I had the pleasure of hiking Lassen Peak once again,” Norris wrote on Instagram. “While it was heartbreaking to see the damage left behind by the 2021 Dixie Fire, the park’s beauty still shines through. Walking those trails brought back so many wonderful memories. My wife grew up around these parts, and I’ll always be grateful she introduced me to such magnificent sights.”

Lassen Peak, an active volcano within Lassen Volcanic National Park, rises to 10,457 feet and is one of the largest plug dome volcanoes in the world. The popular summit trail climbs about 2,000 feet over 2.5 miles, rewarding hikers with sweeping views of the park’s hydrothermal features, rugged peaks, and even Mount Shasta on a clear day.

Norris isn’t just a visitor to Lassen, he’s been a neighbor for decades. The Hollywood legend has quietly lived in the small town of Chester, located on the shores of Lake Almanor just outside Lassen Volcanic National Park, giving him a front-row seat to the region’s natural beauty.
