Fire Breaks Out Along Interstate 5 Near Shasta Lake
Another fire has broken out in Northern California, this time along Interstate 5 near Shasta Lake. Fire officials are on the scene of what is now being called the Gibson Fire, which has grown to 3 acres and is causing traffic issues along I-5.
Gibson Fire Update: The fire has grown to 3 acres due to very active fire conditions. Fire is located on I-5 north of Pollard Flats. Caution while driving in this area, smoke could be visible on the road.— Shasta-Trinity NF (@ShastaTrinityNF) July 19, 2020
The fire is located just north of Pollard Flat and Shasta Lake and is continuing to grow with windy conditions. One lane of northbound I-5 has been closed, according to the California Highway Patrol.

While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, forest service officials tweeted just before the fire broke out about a campfire that got out of control in the area. It’s unknown if these incidents are related:
