Mount Shasta Fish Hatchery Hosts Kids Fishing Day on July 20
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is hosting its second Kids Fishing Day of the year at the Mount Shasta Fish Hatchery near Dunsmuir. This special event will take place on Saturday, July 20, and is open to kids aged 15 and younger.
The hatchery’s settling ponds will be stocked with trout, providing an excellent opportunity for young anglers to experience the joy of fishing. The event is free, and volunteers will be on hand to offer assistance. Bait will be provided, and there will be a limited supply of loaner tackle and equipment available.
Registration for Kids Fishing Day runs from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the day of the event at the hatchery. Participants are encouraged to bring a cooler with ice or a bucket to keep and transport their fish.
CDFW employees, along with local groups and organizations, are volunteering their time to ensure the kids have a memorable and enjoyable day.
