For the First Time in 2 Years, Squaw Valley’s Famed “Silverado” Zone is Open to the Public

Squaw Valley is already known as Northern California’s premiere backcountry ski destinations with areas like KT-22, The Chief and the Promised Land. But following an entire month of winter storms, they are about to take it to the next level.

The ski resort announced that for the first time in two years, they will be opening the famed Silverado area on the mountain (see the gray area in the map below).

The area sits below the other blue, green and black runs higher on the mountain, and it’s strictly an expert-only, black diamond area.
