It’s Snowing in Redding!
Early in the day on Tuesday, meteorologists increased the intensity of the forecast of the incoming atmospheric river storm. Initial reports had the storm as a warm “Pineapple Express” but it hit the North Coast much colder than expected.
Then, around 4 pm on Tuesday, the snow started falling hard in the Dunsmuir/Mount Shasta area:
Just a few hours later, as the sun went down and temperatures dropped below freezing, the snow hit the valley floor of Redding. Here are some of the sights from the rare valley snow:

What a winter surprise! With the storm just arriving into the area, there is plenty of chance residents will wake up with a few inches in the ground in the morning. You know what that means?
