Popular Destinations in Lassen Volcanic National Park to Stay Closed Until 2025

The aftermath of the Dixie Fire continues to impact Lassen Volcanic National Park, keeping the Drakesbad Guest Lodge and Warner Valley Campground closed this summer.
The fire, which began on July 13, 2021, due to power lines, burned 73,240 acres and damaged or destroyed 12 structures in the park.
Despite firefighting efforts, two duplex units, the annex, and the water treatment plant at Drakesbad Guest Ranch were lost. The lodge pool suffered damage from a flood in 2021 and was removed. Snow Mountain LLC and park staff are working to repair and rebuild, but extensive damage has delayed reopening.
To ensure visitor safety and avoid disruptions, the reopening of Drakesbad Guest Lodge and Warner Valley Campground has been postponed until 2025. The Warner Valley Day-Use Area and trails remain open, though visitors should be cautious due to potential hazards from standing dead trees in burned areas. Increased construction traffic is expected on the entrance road. For current trail conditions, check here.
The Dixie Fire affected 69 percent of Lassen Volcanic National Park and nearly a million acres in the region. While some areas saw high burn severity, much of the park experienced low to moderate impacts.
