Meet the Athletes from NorCal Heading to the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi

For a week in March, three Northern California Special Olympians will travel across the world to Abu Dhabi to represent their country and compete and the highest level in the their respected field.

Competing in tennis, swimming and golf, the three athletes have worked tirelessly to compete at the highest level at the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 from March 14-21.

Let’s meet the three athletes who will proudly represent Northern California and the prestigious event:

Christopher Perreault

Christopher Perreault of Marin County has been competing with Special Olympics since he was in high school and will represent Special Olympics Northern California in tennis at Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019. He has participated in tennis, track and field, soccer, swimming, and basketball with Special Olympics and credits the organization for allowing him to make new friends, travel to different places and experience pride in himself.

Christopher previously competed in the Special Olympics USA Games in Ames, Iowa, in 2006, and also participated as a part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run during the 2005 Special Olympics World Games in Japan. He is employed at H&M and enjoys playing guitar, writing music and volunteering at local food shelters in his spare time. Christopher is training hard for the World Games and considers it an honor to represent Northern California and Special Olympics USA.

Alec Heuermann

Alec Heuermann of Rocklin has been involved with Special Olympics for two years and will compete in swimming at Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019. He participates in swimming, golf and bowling. He enjoys meeting new friends through Special Olympics. He has practiced very hard to earn a spot on the national stage and is training vigorously for World Games. 

Alec is currently studying at Sierra College, is an Eagle Scout and enjoys traveling, watching movies and spending time with friends and family. He is honored to represent Northern California and Special Olympics USA at World Games.

Thea Beckett

Thea Beckett of Chico has been competing with Special Olympics for more than 15 years and will represent Special Olympics USA in Unified golf at Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019. She has participated in golf, bowling, basketball, volleyball, softball, track and field, bocce and swimming and has earned more than 80 medals.

Off the field, Thea volunteers her time at numerous fundraisers and speaks about Special Olympics within her community. She credits Special Olympics for giving her more confidence, self-worth and pride. Thea has been employed at the same company for 17 years and enjoys exercising, reading and listening to music in her free time. She is excited to meet people from all across the globe in Abu Dhabi and build new friendships.

    create a awesome headline? I ain’t saying
    your information isn’t solid., but what if you added a title that makes people desire more?
    I mean Meet the Athletes from NorCal Heading to the Special Olympics World
    Games in Abu Dhabi – Active NorCal is kinda vanilla.
    You could glance at Yahoo’s front page and see how they create article titles to get viewers to
    click. You might add a related video or a picture or two to get people excited about what you’ve written. Just my opinion, it would bring your posts a little livelier.
