More Lake Oroville Trails Reopen Following Thompson Fire Damage

The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and California State Parks have reopened additional trails around Lake Oroville that were damaged in the July 2024 Thompson Fire.

Among the newly accessible routes is the North Fork Trail, made possible by the reconstruction of the Potter’s Ravine footbridge. The east portions of the Brad Freeman and Dan Beebe trails, spanning from the base of Oroville Dam’s main spillway to Canyon Drive, have also reopened.

While these trails are now accessible, visitors should remain cautious, as ongoing repairs and brush removal continue with the use of heavy equipment.

Several trails remain closed as State Parks works on further restoration, including:

  • Brad Freeman Trail (between the Fish Barrier Dam and Oroville Dam’s main spillway)
  • Dan Beebe Trail (between Lakeland Boulevard Trail Access and Oroville Dam’s main spillway)
  • Lakeland Boulevard Trail Access
  • Potter’s Point Trail
  • Potter’s Ravine Spur Trail
  • Dead Cow Ravine Trail and Gobbler’s Knob

Trail users are encouraged to check for updates before heading out as restoration efforts continue.
