Tahoe Ski Resorts Receive Up to 2 Feet of Snow this Week, Setting Up a Glorious Bluebird Weekend
December continues to bring winter storms that are blanketing the Tahoe mountains with delicious snow. The ski resorts are now operating with a decent amount of snowpack and two storms this week added to that total. With blue skies ahead, skiers will be greeted with beautiful bluebird days on the mountain this weekend.
The first storm rolled into the Sierra on Monday, dropping between 12 and 15 inches of snow at various Tahoe ski resorts. Here are the totals from that storm:
Another storm followed just days later on Thursday, adding another 11 inches of snow:
The forecast now calls for blue (or somewhat cloudy) skies through Christmas, setting up the perfect weekend for skiers and snowboarders looking for the first powder day of the season. Yippee-Ki-Yay!
There is a caveat to this beautiful bluebird weekend – the Covid-19 protocols being followed by ski resorts. Currently, most ski resorts are only taking season pass holders or day pass users with reservations. Just know, you will not be able to buy a day pass at any Tahoe ski resort right now, and that might continue through the entire ski season.
Happy skiing, ya filthy animals!
