Lassen National Forest Looking for Campground Hosts for the 2024 Season

If you love the great outdoors and enjoy meeting new people, volunteering as a campground host with Lassen National Forest might be the perfect opportunity for you this summer.

Every year, Lassen National Forest seeks enthusiastic volunteers to assist in maintaining the campgrounds across its vast lands. Campground hosts play a crucial role in welcoming visitors and ensuring they have a pleasant camping experience. The season runs from May to September.

Duties for campground hosts include greeting visitors, providing information and answering questions, enforcing campground rules, and conducting light maintenance tasks such as litter pickup, restroom cleaning, and campsite upkeep.

In exchange for their service, campground hosts receive uniforms, tools, supplies, and necessary training from Lassen National Forest. They also enjoy perks such as a complimentary campsite, free propane refills at certain locations, and a daily reimbursement.

To find out how you can become a Campground Host, or to request more information, please contact the Lassen National Forest, Almanor Ranger District at 530-258-2141 or Hat Creek Ranger District at 530-336-5521 during regular business hours. Applications will be accepted until all host positions are filled.
