26-Year-Old Skier Dies After Accident on Advanced Run at Tahoe Ski Resort

A Southern California man has died after a skiing accident at Northstar California Resort near Truckee, according to resort and Placer County officials.

The incident happened Feb. 6 on Martis Trail, an advanced run at the popular Sierra destination. Resort representatives said ski patrol responded to reports of a downed skier on the mountain. Despite their efforts, the 26-year-old was pronounced dead at the resort.

Authorities later identified the skier as Nicholar Kenworthy of Los Angeles.

Tara Schoedinger, vice president and general manager of the resort, said the Northstar Ski Patrol and the broader Vail Resorts team are extending their support to those affected by the tragedy.

Details about what led to the incident have not been released, and officials have not provided additional information about the circumstances on the trail that day.
