New Yosemite Glamping SiteJust Got Featured as One of America’s Best Road Trip Hotels

Under Canvas Yosemite, the luxury glamping resort that opened near the park’s western entrance, just landed on a short list that most hotels would dream about.
The New York Times named it one of five hotels in the country worth building a road trip around, putting it alongside properties near some of America’s most iconic destinations. The feature highlighted the resort’s 71 safari-style tents, its proximity to Yosemite National Park and the kind of experience that blends outdoor adventure with genuine comfort.
The recognition comes on top of Under Canvas Yosemite recently becoming the first accommodation in California to earn DarkSky certification from the International Dark-Sky Association. The resort was designed from the ground up to minimize light pollution, using shielded, downward-facing lighting across the property. On clear nights, the Milky Way is visible to the naked eye.

Men’s Journal also named it the “Best Affordable Hotel of 2026,” noting that the tents offer a high-quality experience at a price point that is more accessible than many traditional luxury hotels in the Yosemite area.
The resort sits just minutes from the park entrance and offers easy access to popular trails and swimming holes during the day. Amenities include communal fire pits, on-site dining and guided stargazing programming.
The timing works well for visitors. With Yosemite’s waterfalls peaking early this year due to low snowpack, a spring or early summer stay could catch both the waterfalls and the stargazing in a single trip. No entrance reservations are required to enter Yosemite in 2026.
