32nd Annual Cushing Crossing Pond Skim Competition Returning to Palisades Tahoe

Get ready for thrills, spills, and lots of laughter at Palisades Tahoe’s 32nd Annual Cushing Crossing! This highly anticipated event, known as the original and best pond-skimming contest of the spring season, is set to take place on May 11th at 1 p.m.

Participants, donned in their most outrageous costumes, will attempt to ski or snowboard across the chilly waters of Cushing pond, aiming for glory and perhaps a bit of a splash. This exhilarating challenge draws a crowd every year, with contestants showing off their skills and costumes in hopes of making it across the pond without taking a dip.

The event will feature a panel of local celebrity judges and will be hosted by two of the best emcees in the business. Competitors have the chance to win fantastic prizes courtesy of event sponsors such as Yeti, Smith, GoPro, Dakine, and Darn Tough.

After the awards ceremony, the festivities continue with live music from the free Spring Tracks Music Series presented by Ikon Pass. The music will be pumping at the KT Base Bar with DJ Logic spinning the decks, making it the perfect way to round off an amazing day.

If you’re keen to participate, make sure to get there early. Registration begins at 8 a.m. on the day of the event at the KT Deck, and it’s first-come, first-served. The registration fee is $20, payable in cash only. For those just wanting to watch, admission is free, and everyone is encouraged to come in their wackiest costumes to add to the festive spirit.
