Beautify Shasta Targets Redding’s Sacramento River Trail for Largest Cleanup Event Yet

Beautify Shasta is preparing for its largest volunteer cleanup of 2025, set for Saturday, December 6, from 8 a.m. to noon on the Sacramento River Trail in Redding.
This winter’s effort focuses on abandoned camps and high-impact litter zones within the Bird Sanctuary, an area that has become a recurring hotspot for debris. Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. in the parking lot south of the Sheraton Hotel for sign-in, supplies, and a safety briefing before heading out onto the trail.
The cleanup is a communitywide effort supported by the Shasta County Chamber, U-Prep School students, the City of Redding, and members of the Geocaching community. City of Redding crews will be on-site to help haul away debris collected throughout the morning.
Beautify Shasta has been steadily expanding its impact in recent years. To date, the group has removed more than 4,000 pounds of trash from local parks, trails, and waterways, backed by over 5,000 volunteer hours.
Organizers say Saturday’s event is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference along one of Redding’s most beloved outdoor corridors — and anyone willing to lend a hand is encouraged to show up and pitch in.
