Behind-the-Scenes Video Footage Shows Cabins Up in Flames in Twin Bridges
The Caldor Fire intensified over the Sierra this weekend, moving quickly towards Echo Summit and forcing heavy evacuations all the way into South Lake Tahoe. One area impacted heavily on Sunday night was Twin Bridges, with behind-the-scenes footage showing cabins up in flames near 8,000 feet elevation.
Video confirmation (above) shows significant loss in the popular elevated area above South Lake Tahoe, with homes burning in the area of Twin Bridges, near Sierra-at-Tahoe. Initial reports indicate the ski resort lost at least one building but was otherwise minimally impacted, including the ski lifts.
Here is a description of the video from Live Storm Media:
The Calder fire today created an afternoon fire storm which destroyed homes near Lake Tahoe on the summit of the sierra Nevada mountains in California. The wild fire jumped Highway 50 and tore into neighborhoods of Sierra Pines and camp Sacramento and destroyed property near the Sierra at Tahoe ski resort. The fire has advanced significantly closer to Lake Tahoe California today. Video is fire damage including homes and forest destroyed with clips of fire equipment waiting
