Black Bear Spotted “Grocery Shopping” in Tahoe

Now that it’s the fall season and bears in Tahoe are becoming more brazen in their attempts to get their paws on human food, bear sightings have become more common. In the Tahoe area, bears are known to be brave when around humans, especially as they are getting ready for hibernation.

But it was the most recent sighting of a bear in Tahoe City that had us giggling.

A Placer County Sheriff spotted a bear in the parking lot of Safeway climbing on top of the shopping carts. It seemed as if he were going to try to go on a shopping spree. Take a look:

In all seriousness, now is the time to truly be careful of bears in Northern California. Do not leave food in your cars and contact authorities if a bear is spotted.
