California State Parks Upgrade Reservation System to Make Camping Easier

California State Parks has announced new reservation upgrades that make finding and booking the perfect campsite easier than ever.
Previously, campground availability and reservations were only accessible on ReserveCalifornia.com. Now, visitors can check near real-time campsite availability directly on Parks.ca.gov, along with helpful details about nearby campgrounds — all integrated with the official ReserveCalifornia reservation system.
“California’s state parks are home to some of the world’s best campgrounds,” said State Parks Director Armando Quintero. “Whether you prefer camping among the redwoods, steps away from the ocean or high up in the mountains, your next state parks adventure is just a few clicks away.”

Alongside these website improvements, State Parks is expanding its reservation drawing program, which debuted successfully at Mount Tamalpais State Park. Starting this month, popular campgrounds at Malibu Creek State Park will join the program, with Morro Bay State Park and McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park added later this summer.
The free reservation drawings on ReserveCalifornia offer a fair chance to secure spots at some of California’s most sought-after campsites. Since 2023, more than 100,000 entries have been submitted for the Steep Ravine Cabins at Mount Tamalpais.
