It was a memorable weekend in Lake Tahoe when the National Hockey League descended on the area to play two outdoor games in February. The event was universally deemed a success (minus some ice issues in the NorCal sun), with the two games giving worldwide hockey fans a glimpse into the beauty of Big Blue.

The Colorado Avalanche filmed behind the scenes footage of their trip and it’s a great showcase of Tahoe. The footage shows the players traveling to the area before practicing at the rink in front of the lake, playing a golf challenge at Edgewood and, eventually highlights of the game, which included the longest intermission in NHL history.

Fantastic job from the NHL and everyone involved from Tahoe in showcasing the beauty of the area. Watch the above video for highlights of the trip from the Avalanche.
