Mammoth Mountain is getting absolutely hammered by snow and it’s showing no signs of letting up.

According to the resort, Mammoth picked up more than 12 inches of fresh snow since 6 a.m., with snowfall continuing steadily through the morning. The rapid accumulation marks a major boost for the mountain during the busy holiday week and has riders buzzing about what the resort called a true “Christmas miracle.”

While the deep snow is a dream for powder lovers, resort officials cautioned that it also creates operational challenges. Digging out lifts and safely opening terrain takes time, and crews are working continuously to get as much of the mountain open as conditions allow.

Mammoth is also urging guests to take deep snow safety seriously. With snow piling up fast, riders are strongly encouraged to stay on designated runs, travel with a partner, and choose terrain that matches their skill level. Officials warned that getting stuck in deep snow is likely, especially for those venturing off piste.

With snowfall ongoing and more storms in the forecast, Mammoth Mountain is shaping up for one of its strongest holiday starts in recent years—just as long as visitors give crews time and ride smart in the deep conditions.
