Interstate 80 Reopens Over Donner Summit with Chain Controls

With a massive storm slamming the Tahoe area on Saturday and Sunday, officials were forced to close Interstate 80 for 50 miles over Donner Summit on Sunday. But following hard work from CalTrans officials, they have reopened the road with chain controls.

The news of the reopening came as most Tahoe ski resorts remain closed due to the Coronavirus and most people are sitting in isolation in their homes. But it does show the massive amount of snow that has fallen in NorCal in recent days, which some people predict was 3 feet overnight.
Even with the road reopening, Placer County Sheriff asked the question “But wouldn’t you rather stay home instead?”:
