It’s DUMPING in Tahoe Right Now and the Roads are Already a Complete Mess

The first significant storm of the season has officially arrived in Tahoe and it’s currently DUMPING. Some reports show 6 inches of snow in the past couple of hours and it’s creating a complete mess on the roadways.

The most impacted roadway is (no surprise) Interstate 80 over Donner Summit, which has already implemented chain control and has been turning away trucks westbound. As of 5 pm, CalTrans announced it has been turning away eastbound passenger vehicles at Drum Forebay as well.

Webcam footage shows a complete s***show over Donner Pass:

On the South side of Lake Tahoe, the roads look a lot like their northern counterparts. Chain controls have been implemented on Highway 50 and, according to CalTrans, there is already a backup of cars in Meyers waiting to go up the pass:

Please check all road conditions, chain controls and closures before attempting to travel in the Sierra.

Of course, for anyone who is in Tahoe and isn’t driving, this storm is one heck of a good time:

Let it snow!
