Country music legend Kris Kristofferson has decided to part ways with his Northern California ranch, which he has called home for nearly 40 years. The expansive property, situated on 557 acres of lush land outside of Elk in Mendocino County, has been listed for sale at an impressive price of $17.2 million by Sotheby’s International Realty.

Speaking about the ranch, the renowned singer-songwriter and actor behind “A Star Is Born” expressed, “The ranch has always been a place of creativity and inspiration,” reflecting on his long-standing connection with the property.

The legacy ranch dates back to the 1800s, initially serving as a dairy farm and retaining some of its original structures. Among these structures are a 2,400-square-foot barn, used by Kristofferson and his wife for vacationing, a 1,900-square-foot ranch house, a dairy barn, and a feed barn – all in need of some refurbishment.

Encompassing 300 acres of open pasture and around 250 acres of forestland adorned with majestic old-growth redwood and fir trees, the property boasts a mile-long stretch of Pacific Ocean frontage, nestled just below Devils Basin. Given its impressive size and prime location, there’s a potential for subdividing the land or further expanding its features. Justin Nadeau from Mendo Sotheby’s International Realty shared, “I grew up here, and this property, in a lot of ways, is steeped in history… Nobody has seen a property like this one come to market.”

Remarkably, the original road house and barns from the late 1800’s still stand to this day. Beneath the road house lies an intriguing geological feature – a rugged and expansive cliff known as Devils Basin. This unique geological formation served as a striking backdrop in the filming of “Karate Kid 3,” adding an extra layer of fascination to the property’s legacy.

Anyone got $17 million laying around?
