Major Tahoe Ski Resorts Announce Early Openings Amidst Early-Season Snowfall

The 2024-2025 ski season is off to an exciting start in Northern California as Heavenly Mountain Resort and Palisades Tahoe announce early openings this week.

Thanks to recent snowfall and the hard work of mountain operations teams, skiers and snowboarders can hit the slopes earlier than expected.

Heavenly Mountain Resort Opens Nov. 20

With 9 inches of fresh snow over the past week and more falling, Heavenly will open two days early on Wednesday, Nov. 20. Initial skiing and riding will be available on the California side of the mountain. Guests can also enjoy après-ski at the new Golden State Kitchen or the Rockstar Bar & Grill at California Lodge. Festivities include a DJ spinning tunes to celebrate opening day.

For sightseeing, the Gondola will operate on Heavenly’s original opening date, Nov. 22, offering stunning views of Lake Tahoe. The Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster will also be open during Thanksgiving, conditions permitting. Updates on additional terrain will follow as snowmaking continues.

Parking reservations begin mid-December for peak weekends, with free parking for carpools of four or more. Check Heavenly’s website for parking details.

Palisades Tahoe Opens Nov. 22

Marking its 75th anniversary season, Palisades Tahoe will open five days early on Friday, Nov. 22, with lifts operating on both the Palisades and Alpine sides of the mountain.

To celebrate, the resort will offer $75 lift tickets through Nov. 27, along with festivities like swag giveaways, live DJs, and complimentary breakfast burritos. Full details on available lifts and runs will be announced soon.
