Mammoth Mountain Closes as Snowstorm SLAMS the Sierra

The winter storm hammering much of the Sierra has forced Mammoth Mountain to shut down operations Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Resort officials announced the full mountain closure due to extremely deep snow and ongoing storm conditions. That includes skiing and snowboarding, along with closures at Woolly’s Adventure Summit, Snowmobile Adventures, and the Tamarack Cross-Country Ski Center.
The decision comes as a powerful system continues dumping heavy snow across the Sierra Nevada, creating dangerous travel conditions and widespread road closures. With intense snowfall rates, strong winds, and limited visibility, mountain operations have become unsafe.
Guests who purchased lift tickets, rentals, lessons, or other activities for Tuesday are being asked to submit the resort’s online cancellation form or call 800-MAMMOTH for assistance.
Resort teams will reassess conditions throughout the day to determine whether operations can resume Wednesday, Feb. 18. Visitors are encouraged to monitor the daily Mountain Report for updates.
