Mount Shasta Named “Most Charming Ski Town” by TripAdvisor

TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel website, conducted a survey in order to name the “Most Charming Ski Town in America,” and Northern California’s Mount Shasta won by a large margin.

Here is how TripAdvisor described their nationwide survey –

“Winter has arrived, and if you’re ready to embrace the chilly weather with an epic ski vacation, we’ve got good news. You don’t need to empty your bank account to make memories on the slopes this year—especially not with so many classic small ski towns just a hop, skip, and a jump away.

If you’re looking to pair big mountain adventures with small-town charm off the slopes, look no further than these destinations—some bigger than others, but all less than 50 square miles in area. Whether you freestyle as hard as you party (Jackson Hole) or gallery-hop once the ski boots come off (Santa Fe), there’s a holiday here with your name on it.”

Mount Shasta won with 21% of the votes out of 23 total ski towns. The ski town with the second most votes was Whitefish, Montana with 12% of the votes.

Here is what the website had to say about the town –

“We can give you a few reasons to add Mount Shasta to your list of must-visit small ski towns, starting with the beginner-friendly slopes at the local ski park. The outdoor hub draws travelers with its top-notch terrain, great restaurants, and welcoming atmosphere. One reviewer writes, “We greatly enjoyed our stay in a beautiful chalet in a quiet Mount Shasta neighborhood. It was well-kept, stocked, and cozy for our family of three.”

We can’t say that we’re shocked. To the world, Mount Shasta is not the most well-known destinations for a winter getaway, but us locals no it to be one of the nation’s best-kept secrets.
