Mt. Shasta Ski Park Back in Action Following Weekend Storm

Good news for Northern California skiers: Mt. Shasta Ski Park is back.

Resort operators announced Monday that the mountain will reopen Tuesday, Feb. 17, after a much-needed burst of snowfall refreshed the slopes. Roughly six to eight inches fell overnight, with additional snow expected to continue through Monday and Tuesday.

The ski area had been on pause since Feb. 9, when limited snow coverage forced a temporary shutdown. While staff initially aimed for a Monday return, they determined over the weekend that conditions in several key zones were still too thin to safely operate lifts and terrain.

Now, with new accumulation on the ground and snowmaking crews working to boost coverage wherever possible, the resort says it’s ready to spin lifts again.

The reopening comes as a welcome boost for local riders who have been waiting for winter to fully arrive on Mount Shasta. If incoming storms deliver as forecasted, conditions could continue to improve throughout the week.

For updated lift status and operating details, visitors are encouraged to check directly with the ski park before heading up the mountain.
