Netflix’s New Murder Mystery Puts Yosemite at the Center of a Deadly Investigation

A suspicious death, a grieving agent, and the wild beauty of Yosemite National Park—Untamed is Netflix’s latest limited series to drop, and it’s bringing a dose of wilderness mystery to your screen.
The six-episode thriller stars Eric Bana (Troy, Dirty John) as Kyle Turner, a federal agent investigating a woman’s mysterious fall in Yosemite. With a tagline like “nature obeys no rules but its own,” the series blends psychological drama and classic whodunit vibes with a rugged outdoor backdrop.
Alongside Bana, the cast includes Jurassic Park’s Sam Neill, Rosemarie DeWitt (La La Land), Lily Santiago (La Brea), Wilson Bethel, and William Smillie. The show was written by father-daughter duo Mark and Elle Smith and produced by Shameless creator John Wells.
While the story is set in Yosemite, Untamed was actually filmed in British Columbia. That didn’t stop the crew from getting into the wilderness mindset. “We had a bear guy on set,” Bana told the LA Times. “I was desperate to see a bear—but had really bad bear luck.”
The show explores grief, identity, and survival in the unforgiving wild—and while reviews are mixed, the dramatic setting and star power are drawing attention.
Untamed is now streaming on Netflix. So if you’re in the mood for murder under the pines—with a side of federal intrigue and emotional baggage—it might be time to head (virtually) to Yosemite.
