New Shuttle Service to Replace Dangerous Roadside Parking at Tahoe’s Emerald Bay

Starting July 15, a new shuttle service will launch to help visitors access Emerald Bay without the hassle—and danger—of roadside parking. The pilot program, funded by Keep Tahoe Blue and the Tahoe Fund, is designed to reduce traffic, improve safety, and protect the lake’s fragile environment.
As part of the effort, Caltrans will conduct a Road Safety Audit over the July 4 holiday. Then, temporary barriers will be installed to eliminate unsafe parking along the roadside. The California Highway Patrol will strictly enforce new restrictions throughout the summer.
The Emerald Bay Shuttle will run seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., July 15 to October 15, with roundtrip fares of $10 for adults and $5 for children 13 and under. Tickets will be available online in early July.
South Lake Tahoe Routes:

“This is a big step toward making Emerald Bay safer and more accessible while protecting the lake,” said Gavin Feiger of Keep Tahoe Blue.
Officials hope the program will serve as a model for long-term transportation planning in the region. For more details, visit www.emeraldbayshuttle.com.
