Popular Sand Harbor State Park Moves to Full Reservation System for Peak Season

Sand Harbor State Park has fully implemented its day-use reservation system as of April 15, 2025, following last year’s successful pilot program.

Designed to enhance visitor experience, reduce traffic congestion, and preserve the park’s scenic beauty, reservations will now be required daily during peak season (April 15 to October 15) for vehicle entry between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Visitors can book reservations at ReserveNevada.com. After 10:30 a.m., any unused spots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Reservations will be available in three advance-booking tiers:

  • Tier One: 200 reservations, available 90 days ahead.
  • Tier Two: 100 reservations, available 30 days ahead.
  • Tier Three: 50 reservations, available 7 days ahead.
  • Same-Day: Any unreserved spots open until 10:15 a.m. (no reservation fee).

A $5 processing fee applies to advance reservations. Park entrance fees ($10 for Nevada residents, $15 for out-of-state vehicles) are charged at checkout. Reservations are non-transferable and ID must match the reservation holder upon entry.

“The reservation system has proven to be a valuable tool for managing capacity at one of our most popular parks,” said Bob Mergell, Administrator of Nevada State Parks. “We’re excited to move forward with full implementation.”

Important reminders:

  • Reservation holders must enter by 10:30 a.m.
  • No refunds for missed reservations.
