Popular Tahoe Park Will Stay Mostly Closed for Much of the 2025 Season

California State Parks has announced that D.L. Bliss State Park will remain closed for camping and partially closed for day use until summer 2025 to complete a critical waterline infrastructure replacement project. Campground reservations for the 2025 season will not be available until further notice.

While the camping facilities remain closed, certain day-use areas will still be accessible:

  • Lester Beach and Calawee Cove: Open for water access from Lake Tahoe and foot access via the Rubicon Trail from Emerald Bay State Park.
  • Backcountry Areas: Portions of the park west of Highway 89 are available for winter backcountry use.
  • Bouldering/Rock-Climbing Areas: Popular climbing spots east of Highway 89, closed for two years, will reopen in 2025 with walk-in access from designated roadside parking.

Visitors should note that there will be no restroom or trash services in these areas. Construction activities may also limit emergency response vehicle access, potentially delaying response times. Visitors are encouraged to follow “Leave No Trace” principles to minimize environmental impact.

For those seeking alternative destinations, nearby Emerald Bay State Park and Ed Z’berg Sugar Pine Point State Park will be fully open for camping and day-use activities during summer 2025.
