Popular Tahoe Ski Resort Announces Early Closure Due to Lack of Snow

Sierra-at-Tahoe is pulling the plug on its 79th season this Sunday, wrapping things up as warm weather and a snowless forecast make it tough to keep the lifts spinning.

The resort shared the news on social media, noting that limited terrain will be open through the final weekend. Riders can expect access to the Grandview Express, Nob Hill, Easy Rider Express and beginner runs off Easy Rider, all dependent on conditions holding up.

But Sierra-at-Tahoe isn’t going quietly. The resort is throwing a proper send-off Saturday and Sunday with snow beach volleyball and DJ aprés to close things out with some energy.

It’s been a rollercoaster season across Tahoe-area resorts, with stretches of big storms followed by extended dry spells. Sierra-at-Tahoe has been a staple in the region for nearly eight decades, and while the season may be ending earlier than some would like, there’s still time to squeeze in a few more turns before summer takes over.
