Ride for a Cause at the Shasta Bike Tour, Benefiting One Safe Place
Brought to you by Healthy Shasta
By Kathleen Kelley, Event Manager at One SAFE Place
Having grown up in Shasta County with a love of the outdoors and a passion for the well-being of my community, Shasta Bike Tour makes sense.
I’m Kathleen, Event Manager at One SAFE Place. My role alongside an equally passionate team of people is to execute fundraising events for our non-profit organization so we may continue to provide programs and services to families and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Sadly, both are prevalent occurrences in Shasta County and are often not mutually exclusive from one another. With 10,000 walk-ins this past year we are faced with a greater need than ever before to keep our doors open. These numbers continue to grow as a result of an awareness our community has of the services we provide to families in need. The McConnell Foundation has generously stepped in this year and extended to us The Challenge Grant. As part of the terms for this grant all proceeds from this event will be matched dollar for dollar by The McConnell Foundation. In essence, this is an excellent opportunity for community members to double their impact!
Shasta Bike Tour is a charity event never attempted before by One SAFE Place. As a cyclist for nearly 10 years and having a passion for what we do as a non-profit I thought to myself why not combine the two? This is an opportunity for us to draw in people near and far to our beautiful quiet rural roads intertwined in the pristine foothills of Shasta County.
We are known for our world-class cycling territory in the sunniest city in the Golden State. With the partnership of the Shasta Wheelmen, the Shasta Bike Challenge group, Ride Redding, and other prominent members in our community we are putting together a bike tour that will grow in the years that follow.
This year we are offering a Metric Century Ride, a 30 Mi. ride, a 10 Mi. ride, and a 4 Mi. Family Fun Ride to include all community members who want to get outdoors and cycle for the cause. Following the ride we will host an after party with live music, a BBQ, and local libations. In the years that follow we will also incorporate an invigorating century ride.
Join us as we cycle to end the cycle of generational violence. Register here!
