Several People Missing Following Avalanche at Tahoe’s Alpine Meadows
UPDATE: One Fatality Confirmed in Alpine Meadows Inbound Avalanche

The Sierra Avalanche Center reported considerable avalanche danger across the Sierra following a dense winter storm that hit Thursday and now, the worst might be realized at Alpine Meadows in Tahoe. Placer County Sheriff announced they are responding to an avalanche at the ski resort in which there are “several unaccounted victims”:

It is unclear where the avalanche occurred, but search and rescue officials are currently on the scene looking for victims. We will continue to update the situation as it develops.
