Sierra-at-Tahoe Announces Opening Day Amid Powerful Sierra Storm

After a patient wait for winter to arrive, Sierra-at-Tahoe is officially set to open for the 2025–26 season on Saturday, Dec. 27, lining up perfectly with a powerful Sierra storm expected to deliver several feet of fresh snow.
The resort announced Tuesday that lifts are scheduled to start spinning at 8:30 a.m., with operations planned through 4 p.m., conditions permitting. At minimum, the Easy Rider Express lift is expected to operate on opening day, with additional terrain announcements coming as snowfall totals become clearer later this week.
A strengthening storm system moving into the Sierra Wednesday evening is forecast to intensify through Friday, dramatically improving early-season coverage and setting the stage for a snowy holiday weekend on the mountain.
To kick things off, Sierra-at-Tahoe will welcome guests beginning at 8 a.m. with hot apple cider and treats provided by Marshall, the resort’s medical clinic partner. DJ Josbeatz will spin music in the base area, and the first 100 guests in line will receive limited-edition opening-day merchandise.
Ski + Ride School will offer beginner and private lessons for both kids and adults, with reservations encouraged. Several dining spots—including Mama’s Kitchen, Aspen Express, Java, Grandbrew, and The Pub—are expected to be open, along with rentals and retail at Sierra Mountain Sports.
Guests are encouraged to monitor sierraattahoe.com for real-time conditions and updates as opening day approaches.
