South Lake Tahoe Unveils New Names for the City’s Snowplows and They Are AWESOME

The City of South Lake Tahoe has unveiled the winning names for its 2023 Name a Snowplow contest and they are pretty awesome. Over a three-week period, residents cast a total of approximately 1,194 votes. The top 10 names emerged from a list of 36 contenders.

“The Name a Snowplow Contest has been a great way to kick off our winter snow removal operations and to engage our residents in a fun activity,” said Anush Nejad, Director of Public Works. “We look forward to seeing the winning names on the city’s snowplows during this winter season.”

Here are the winning names in order of their vote totals:

  • The Big LePlowski
  • Plowy McPlowface
  • Scoop Dog
  • Snowbi Wan Kenobi
  • Darth Blader
  • Sled Zeppelin
  • Clearopathra
  • Sleetwood Mac
  • Austin Plowers
  • Snowbacca

In the coming weeks, decals bearing these creative monikers will be affixed to South Lake Tahoe’s snowplows, adding a touch of whimsy to the winter season. This initiative not only brightens the city’s snow removal operations but also fosters community involvement and fun for residents.
