The Next Great Ski Comedy Has Arrived and It Was Filmed on the Slopes of Lake Tahoe
Ski comedies were an important part of my childhood, teaching me the do’s and don’ts of the mountain while getting a good chuckle is just good for the soul. Films like Ski School, Ski Patrol, and Out Cold were put on repeat in my house as the snow began to fall on the mountains.
Now, there’s a brand-new ski comedy hitting the big screens, and it was filmed on the slopes of Lake Tahoe.
Weak Layers hits theaters today (January 5) and it looks like a great homage to the ski comedies of my childhood, with a nice female reboot. The film was stars Katie Burrell, also the writer and director, as a party-loving skier who sets out with her best friends to win a ski movie-competition to pay their rent. A classic storyline for a top-notch ski comedy.
The film was mostly filmed on the slopes of Palisades Tahoe. Check out the trailer and you’ll recognize the mountain:
The film is opening in select theaters today, including some NorCal locations like Tahoe and Sacramento (you can see the entire theater list here). It’s then set to hit streaming platforms on February 4th. We’ll let you know where you can see it when the time arrives.
Great work from this crew to bring back the ski comedy!
