The World Dog Surfing Championship in NorCal was the Cutest Thing You’ve Ever Seen

Sitting just south of San Francisco at Linda Mar Beach in Pacifica, California there are some mellow waves that any hardcore surfer would scoff at. But for the best dog surfers around the world, it’s the perfect place to hang ten!

Forty-five dogs took to the beach on August 4th to compete in the third annual World Dog Surfing Championships, where six dogs were crowned the best in their category. The waves were fierce, the competition was high and the barks were bountiful.

There are plenty of popular dogs that attend the event:

Abbie Girl, an Australian Kelpie rescue, won a special Spirit of Surfing Award for her performance and her dedication to the sport — and third place honors in the medium-sized dogs category.

Gidget, a pug who does turns on her board and has 70,000 Instagram fans, grabbed top honors as best little dog surfer, second place for partnering with Prince Dudeman and the Goughnuts Top Dog award.

The competitors stole the hearts of the spectators and raised money for two animal charities. Here are some of the best photos/videos of the event:
