This Mammoth Backcountry Cornice is the Things Nightmares Are Made Of

When snow falls on the mountains of Northern California, skiers and snowboarders delight in the backcountry adventures offered to them. With fun adventures come underlying risks, including the ever present danger of loose snow, which could result in a dangerous avalanche. This video is what it looks like to deal with said obstacles.

Josh Daiek continues to post incredibly entertaining and educational ski content to his popular Instagram page. In a recent post, he shows a loose cornice that they pushed off the mountain, watching it slide through a shoot. Check it out:

Now that’s the thing nightmares are made of. Mother Nature is certainly beautiful, but can be dangerous as well. When you’re skiing big-mountain runs like Daiek, these dangers are always in your way. Be sure to stay safe out there.
