Webcams Show Mt. Shasta Ski Park Almost Snowless as Ski Season Approaches

A few early season storms dusted the slopes of Mount Shasta in November, giving winter enthusiasts hope for a strong start to the 2025–26 ski season. But a look at the Mt. Shasta Ski Park webcams tells a very different story.
Right now, the mountain is almost entirely bare.

Aside from a few thin patches of snow clinging to higher elevations, the lower and mid-mountain terrain remains brown, dry, and far from ski-ready. The ski park typically relies on a mix of natural snowfall and colder temperatures for snowmaking, but so far neither has arrived in meaningful force.
The early December weather pattern is not helping. Forecasts continue to show mild temperatures and little in the way of significant storms for Northern California. Without sustained cold and at least a few major winter systems, the ski park is unlikely to open anytime soon.

Mt. Shasta Ski Park does not operate on a fixed opening date and instead waits for safe, skiable coverage across its terrain. In past low-snow years, opening day has been delayed into late December or even January.
That could be the case again this season.
