Yosemite Facelift Returns for Another Year of Park Cleanup
The Yosemite Facelift, an annual volunteer event organized by the Yosemite Climbing Association (YCA), is back for its 21st year, inviting the public to help preserve the beauty of Yosemite National Park. Running from September 25 to 29, this year’s Facelift continues the tradition that began in 2004, bringing together volunteers, park officials, and sponsors to clean up and restore the iconic landscape.
The cleanup event has grown over the years to include not only trash collection but also special talks and panel discussions, offering participants an opportunity to learn about the park’s natural and cultural history. It’s a unique way for people to contribute to Yosemite’s preservation while deepening their understanding of the environment.
Coinciding with National Public Lands Day on September 28, the Facelift event encourages participants to give back in multiple ways. Volunteers can:
- Pick up trash or participate in restoration projects
- Follow Leave No Trace principles to minimize their impact
- Learn about Yosemite’s seven traditionally associated tribes, the original stewards of the land
- Enjoy a walk in nature, soaking in the park’s beauty
While National Public Lands Day offers a fee-free entrance on September 28, visitors will still need a $2 reservation to enter or drive through the park between 5 a.m. and 3 p.m.
