Yosemite to Require Peak-Day Reservations this Summer. Here’s How to Get One.

If you’re planning a trip to Yosemite National Park this summer, you’ll need to plan ahead—especially if you’re arriving during peak hours.

To manage high visitation and improve the experience for all, Yosemite will require vehicle reservations on select days between May 24 and September 1, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Here’s the full breakdown:

  • May 24–26 (Memorial Day weekend): Reservation required
  • May 27–June 14: No reservation required
  • June 15–August 15: Reservation required
  • August 16–29: No reservation required
  • August 30–September 1 (Labor Day weekend): Reservation required

“This system ensures all visitors, whether they plan in advance or decide last minute, can experience the park each day,” Yosemite officials said. “It also spreads visitation across the day so that visitors have a better experience.”

Reservations become available Tuesday, May 6 at 8 a.m. through Recreation.gov.

If you’re arriving after 2 p.m. on reservation days, no reservation is needed—but the park asks that you don’t show up early. Vehicles blocking roads before 2 p.m. will be cited.
