You Could Purchase this Tahoe Winter Resort for Just $6 Million
If you have $6 million lying around, a great way to spend it might be to purchase a Tahoe ski resort, and we have just the one for you.
If you’ve ever driven along Highway 80 near Donner Summit, you’ve probably noticed a small resort to the south of the highway, with little signage and loads of opportunity. That’s Kingvale Recreational Resort, located just 8-miles west of Donner Summit, now up for sale for $6 million.

The 297-acre property was recently listed Bruce Renfrew of California Outdoor Properties, who detailed the property on his website:
“Extremely rare opportunity to own and expand an existing recreational resort just 8 miles from the Donner Summit, right along Highway 80. In the wintertime, this property is a wildly popular sledding and inner-tubing hill, which grossed approximately $500,000 in 2018.”
This little resort is brimming with opportunity, with the potential of summer activity additions like an adventure park or zipline that could net the new owner a hefty profit. And although Kingvale has all sorts of potential, the current owners are happy to let it go.
It was purchased in 2017 for a mere $1 million, and the owners developed the roads and nearby campsites, as well as a carpet lift for sledding. The purchase would also include a 20-year-lease on a pizza restaurant right off Highway 80, with loads of Bay Area and Sacramento cars driving by it everyday.
Many years ago, the resort was a haven for skiers and snowboarders who like terrain parks. It had boxes and rails, and even an airbag to practice new tricks:
We hope this place goes to the best possible owner, one who would show it the love it needs and develop it into the great local destination. Are you that person?
